I will preface this post with a note that everyone is fine, no injuries were sustained.
Last night my parents were at our house for dinner for my Mom's birthday. We had a great day, my Mom, Grandma and I went down to St. Cloud for lunch and a little shopping. We had a great dinner as well, and Tommy got to play with Grandma and Grandpa which he loved. They left at around 8 and we put Tommy to bed. Shortly after nine we got a phone call from my Dad, my Mom had been hit by a drunk driver (they had driven seperatly since my Mom came over earlier.) It was a young kid and he was pretty drunk from the sounds of it. Her car is totalled and she is very lucky she didn't get hurt or hit someone else since the roads were pretty busy at 8 o'clock.
I ask all of you to please not drink and drive. Think of the innocent people that you could easily injure or kill. Think of the woman driving home on her birthday thinking about how much better this year will be since she found out she had cancer on her last birthday. Think of the mothers and fathers driving with their children in the car. It easily could have been Mike, Tommy and I driving on our road at that time of day. I am so grateful that my Mom walked away from this unharmed and I hope this can be a way to remind people to be safe.
