Counting down the days

We only have 2 days left at our sub-daycare! Yay!!! You cannot believe how excited we are to go back to Alissa's on Monday. Looking back, the 8 weeks did go fairly quick, but I am so ready to get back to a normal schedule. No more packing meals, seriously what kind of daycare doesn't have the state food program? Tommy is doing very well. He jumps now, or what he thinks is jumping, I don't think his feet actually leave the ground very often. He is talking a little more, most of it remains a mystery, but he has down Mama, Dada, Grandpa, Grandma, moo, quack, ball (I think), cow and some other randoms. He is getting so big! I can't believe how fast the time goes. We are definitely enjoying every minute we have with him, even the somewhat naughty ones! I can't believe it is already October, the time is flying by. We hope everyone is having a good week, I will try to get some photos up soon!

What a wonderful weekend

Our weekend actually began on Thursday evening. We met my parents at Coldstone for their Make a Wish free ice cream event. We tried some very good new ice creams and then we headed home. Tommy was on a little bit of a sugar high, so we really tried to tire him out playing hard!
Reading a book with Daddy

He has been making this face quite a bit lately!

Starting to get a little whiny!

On Friday I had the day off and Tommy and I spent it together playing and reading books. He is really into books right now! When Mike got home we filled his water table and let him play in that for a while, I am really glad we did since the weather might not cooperate for using it any more this year.

Saturday was our 5 year anniversary. I had to work, but Mike and Tommy picked me up and we went home to play for a little while. Mike and I dropped Tommy off at the Wig's house so we could make a special dinner for ourselves. Tommy had a great night playing with JP, Katie and Becca and being spoiled by his Aunts Laurie and Julie, Uncles Jeff and Gary and Great Grandma Rosie. He spent the whole night dancing away! Mike and I on the other hand went up to Iven's for a martini to start our evening on a relaxed note. Then we went back home to make dinner.

I only have a black one and I am okay with that!

Five years later and even happier!

Lovely brushetta for an appetizer

Ribeye steaks with a red wine, baby portabella and shallot sauce I made, yum!

Those of you who know me well will understand this photo. I frequently love putting my wedding dress on and wearing it around. It is so beautiful that I would really be sad to have it tucked away in a box somewhere! So I put on my dress to go and pick up Tommy. I don't think anyone at my Aunt's house was too surprised to see me in it and I got to dance a little bit too!

Today we went to a spaghetti fundraiser for the local dance team with my parents again. My Mom also made us a wedding cake to celebrate with. It is delicious! We had such a great weekend! I was sad to see it come to an end.

Tommy's Squeaky Shoes

Here is a short video showing off Tommy's Wee Squeak shoes. It also shows how fast he can run now. Excuse my laughter at the end, I thought he was running by me and he ended up tackling me instead!

Maria & Dustin's Wedding

On Saturday we headed up to Crosslake for my friend Maria's wedding. We stayed overnight at a campground in a camper so we stopped there first to pick up Christy and Amy and head to the wedding. The ceremony was beautiful. There was a little over an hour before the reception started so we went back to the campground and had a few beers. The reception was very fun. I got to see a lot of friends from my high school days that I haven't seen in ages. Mike knew people there too, so he had a great time. I got a little silly and danced the night away, but I was just joining in with all the other guests! Tommy was staying at my parents overnight and he had a great time too! A big thanks to my parents for helping us out!

Mike loves to take photos of people, just them alone, I have no idea why, but here they are...

It was so sweet to have Tommy get so excited when Mike and I showed up at my parents house this morning. It really makes you feel so good that your child is that excited to see you. He has been a little cranky lately because he is getting both of his top 1-year molars. They are so swollen and red that I know it has to hurt really bad! Hopefully they will come in quick!

It's finally Friday!

I don't know why the weeks have been taking so long lately! I am really busy at work too, so the work days seem to go by rather fast. Who knows...

Last night Mike and I decided to give Tommy another chance to go out to eat. We haven't been going out much because he really doesn't like to stay in his highchair and tries to climb out. Last night was no different. We got him a corn dog for the first time and he really liked it, but he was ready to get out and run around before we were finished with our meals. My parents joined us and helped us keep him reigned in.

Enjoying his corn dog.

He is learning to dip or he might just be pounding his corn dog because he likes to pound everything!

Holding it himself!

I am pretty sure it will be a while before we go out again, it just isn't worth it when we have to work so hard to keep him entertained and try to eat our food without it getting cold.

A big thank you to my Mom who is at our house today watching Tommy. We really appreciate the help while we are at the sub-daycare. We are definitely looking forward to going back to Alissa in two weeks!

Tomorrow we have my highschool friend Maria's wedding. It is in Crosslake which isn't too far away, but Tommy is staying overnight at my parents house for his first night away from me! Isn't that crazy that I haven't been away from him overnight before? We are staying at a campground in a camper with a bunch of girls I went to highschool with. No other husbands are going so Mike is really looking forward to spending the night with four women! I will post photos of the evening!

A visit with Alissa, Simon and Isak

Last night I picked Tommy up from daycare and we stopped over at Alissa's house to meet Isak and see Simon. Tommy was very excited to be back there which made me very happy since we haven't been back there for almost 6 weeks and I wasn't sure if he would remember them. It was nice to see them and Isak is adorable. Tommy will be returning to Alissa's on Oct. 6th and we are counting down the days! It was really cute to see Simon and Tommy playing together since he was pretty little and didn't really play with the older boys yet when Alissa went on leave. Here are a couple of photos of the boys!

I think Alissa will have her hands full with these two, they were already climbing on top of the tool workbench together and banging on everything with the tools!

A weekend of celebrations

We had a very nice weekend. On Friday I made dinner for my parents to celebrate my Dad's birthday since he was working out of town last week and we couldn't celebrate before then. I had the day off and ran some errands and hung out with Tommy during the day. He is getting to be very busy, but he is so much fun! My Mom brought over a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and whip cream too. Tommy sure loved that!!!

Showing Grandpa his books
The next photos show Tommy eating his chocolate cake. Needless to say he went right into the tub when he was finished!

After I got off from work on Saturday I called my friend Amy to talk about a wedding we are going to next weekend and we ended up going over to her house for dinner. She has a three year old daughter named Ella and a 9 month old son named Easton. Her husband is out of town hunting so the three of us went over there to hang out. Tommy really enjoyed playing with Easton and Ella and it was fun to watch all of them interact with each other.

Today, in the tradition of our family we celebrated Dad's birthday one more time with a prime rib. It was a fun day and delicious food. Tommy had a great time with all the toys he doesn't get to see all of the time and some new ones that we brought out from when my sister and I were little kids. We hope you all had a great weekend too!

Quick update

First of all, one more photo of my cousin Kelly and her husband Shane from their wedding last Saturday. I stole it from her facebook page! What a great photo of the happy couple!
Other than that not too much else is new. I have tomorrow off so Tommy and I get to play together all day! I am definitely looking forward to that! I can't believe it is already the middle of September! The time is flying by...

A beautiful wedding

We attended my cousin Kelly's wedding to Shane on Saturday. It turned out to be lovely weather for the ceremony which was outside. It started sprinkling just as we all made it inside to enjoy the reception. Kelly was a beautiful bride and you could just see the happiness in both Kelly & Shane! I have a few photos, I will try to get a few more from other people to add later!

The next morning we took Tommy swimming at the hotel. He really loved the zero entry pool with little streams of water that shot into the pool.
